The Zenex Foundation is powered by a small, efficient team of professionals who work co-operatively with government, service providers and school communities to contribute to improved education outcomes for historically disadvantaged learners in South Africa.
Chief Executive Officer
Gail is CEO of the Zenex Foundation. She has been involved in developmental grant making for over 15 years, with a particular emphasis in school education.
Programme Director: Research and Evaluations
Fatima is the Programme Director: Research and Evaluations at the Zenex Foundation, which she joined in 2012 after serving as programme director for Open Society Africa and in enrolment planning at the University of Johannesburg.
Director of Finance and Corporate Services
Paresh is the Director of Finance and Corporate Services and a member of the Senior Management Team. He is responsible for the provision and maintenance of high level systems and services for all finance and administrative functions including budgets, building and maintenance, IT and system development, procurement and related support activities.
Khaya recently joined the Zenex Foundation as Director: Programmes. Khaya previously worked for Tshikululu Social Investments where he held numerous roles including Client Relationship Manager and Education Specialist.
Marion is Director: Programmes at the Zenex Foundation and a member of the Senior Management Team.
Lauren is Programme Manager responsible for incubating and testing ideas and interventions for the effective teaching and learning of literacy and language in the Foundation Phase. This role forms part of the Transforming Schools Programme pillar of the Zenex Foundation strategy.
Fundiswa Sayo is a Programme Manager at the Zenex Foundation. Her work experience involves working at the University of Cape Town’s administrative departments and Student Support at False Bay College. She was placed as an exchange staff member at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada.
Sam is Programme Manager responsible for mathematics education projects, particularly those in the Foundation Phase. Sam holds a BSc Honours in Applied Mathematics, currently pursuing his Masters. He has 15 years' experience working in mathematics and science education environment.
Tshepo is Programme Manager of Initial Teacher Education. This programme initiates and supports projects that improve teacher practice, and supports Foundation Phase teachers and schools.
Ruth is Communications Manager and Zenex’s principal brand ambassador. She is also responsible for the website, product design and events management.
Knowledge and Information Manager
Thabisile is the Knowledge Management and Information Manager. She is responsible for managing the production of knowledge products within Zexex and sharing them on the organisation’s diverse knowledge sharing platforms. One of her tasks is to consolidate Zenex’s key lessons over its rich history of 25 years to make these accessible and to share them on public platforms, so that others in the sector can benefit from the Zenex experience.
Nompumelelo Nkabinde joined Zenex as an Information Administrator in 2018. Her role includes maintaining grant systems (project tracking software), initiating and drafting contracts to service providers and general provision of information in the organisation.
Receptionist and Office Assistant
Lulama Ndamane is a Receptionist and Office Assistant at Zenex Foundation. She holds Frontline Office with Achievers and Professional Receptionist and PA with Damelin.
Nicolette is Executive Assistant and is responsible for the management of the CEO’s office, including secretarial and administrative support. She also provides executive secretariat support in the preparation for Board Meetings and other meetings and she coordinates travel arrangements throughout the organisation.
Knowledge Management and Communications Intern
Doctor Mahlaule is Knowledge Management and Communications Intern, responsible for providing support in social media, events management and with the website.
Asamkele Zimu Profile
Finance and Administration Intern
Asamkele is a Finance and Administration Intern, building on her previous experience and exposure in the work place. Prior to joining Zenex, she completed another internship at the Gauteng Treasury where she was trainee budget analyst, exposed to general financial concepts and the critical role in monitoring income and expenditure.
