University of Fort Hare bestows Honorary Doctorate on Adv. Thandi Orleyn

At its 2025 Spring Graduation, the University of Fort Hare honoured Advocate Dr Thandi Orleyn with an Honorary Doctor of Commerce, honoris causa — a symbolic homecoming 50 years after she first enrolled at the Alice campus in 1975. A proud Fort Hare alumna, former Council Chair, and trailblazer in law, business, and empowerment, Dr Orleyn’s recognition celebrates both her remarkable journey and the university’s enduring legacy. In her address, she urged graduates to own their journeys, rise above limitations, and one day return to give back to their alma mater.
